How To Tune a Guitar

Tuning PThis guitar lesson will cover how to tune your guitar. Learning how to tune a guitar by ear takes time, but there are alternatives. You can buy a tuner, which is always recommended for any level of guitarist. There are many types of tuners, ones that you can plug into your guitar, or ones that can hear the note being played and tell you what note it is.

The regular guitar has six strings, E, A, D, G, B, E. The low E (the fattest string) should sound the lowest, and then it works its way up with A sounding a little bit higher and so on. This continues all the way to the high E which sounds the highest. Learning exactly how these strings should sound is something that comes over time. I would suggest purchasing a tuner so that you can always be playing guitar that is in tune.

If you have a guitar tuner we will learn how to use it in the first video in this lesson. The Second video will cover how to tune a guitar by ear. Before you watch the videos just remember that if you are new to tuning the guitar it might take you a while to get the hang of it. Not everyone can tune the guitar perfectly right away. It usually takes quite a bit of practice.
